Today, I’m going to teach you how to install a WordPress theme to make your site beautiful.
Changing your theme will change your site look and certain functionalities. So, when choosing one, make sure to get a checklist.
Ok, let’s dive in.
Demo: How to Install Free WordPress Theme
To change your theme or the look of your website, type your domain name, add wp-admin to the URL, and put your access information to log in.
Once you’re in your WordPress dashboard, hover Appearance and click Themes. From here, you’ll be able to see all the current themes you have for your website which you can customize and use.
Now, to install a new theme, click the “Add New” button. Once you’ve clicked it, you’ll be redirected to a directory of free themes that made by thousands of developers all over the world. These are all approved by WordPress and safe for use.
Also, from here, there’s a “feature filter” to help you find the best themes for your site based on subject, features, and layout. You also have the option to preview them prior to installation. Once you’ve decided on which theme to go with, you can click Install and Activate.
Once activated, you’ll be able to see your new WordPress theme installed on your site. We can now go ahead and customize it.
To do that, click Customize under the Appearance. Now remember, depending on the theme you’ve chosen, it’ll offer you different things to customize. Some are less, some are more.
There are also themes that have “Theme Options” which offer you more customization capabilities. If your theme has one, you’ll be able to find that somewhere on the right side of your WordPress dashboard or Customize page.
— Demo End
So, that’s how you add a new theme and customize your WordPress site.
Personally, I only install purchased or premium themes. My go-to websites are ThemeForest and Elegant Themes. You may check their link at the description below.
Demo: How to Install Premium or Purchased WordPress Theme
So, once you purchased a theme, they’ll give you a zip file. To install it, again, go to Appearance, click Themes, click Add New, and this time, click Upload Theme.
From here, choose your theme zip file, and click Install Now. Once installed, click Activate and you’re ready for customization.

Most premium themes have documentation on how to use and customize them, so make sure to read and check it.
And that’s all I have for today. In the future, I’ll give you more tips and tricks on how you can customize your WordPress site using CSS and codes. I promise that they will be very beginner friendly, so don’t worry.
